Purpose

To draw a 2D Polyline comprising arc elements defined by curve lengths or K values. In typical use the starting point will be a series of Lines drawn from left to right that would have had their gradients set by menu item Sections, Enquire and fix Gradient of Line. Work from left to right to define all vertical curves. For best results draw the original section with a 5 X  vertical magnification so that the arc geometry on the section will be very close to a parabola.

Operation

Pick the datum line and the first pair of Lines and this dialogue will appear :-

Curve length

Suggests a suitable curve length – enter alternative if required and the K value will update.

K value

Enter proposed K value and the horizontal curve length will re-calculate.

Join curve with LH and RH elements

"On" for typical use to join the Lines with the specified curve and re-draw as a 2D Polyline.

Mark IP

"Off" for typical use. If "on" a Point will be drawn at the Intersection Point.

Layer... to set the layer for the "joined" 2D Polyline.

Pick new LH and RH elements <  after clicking Draw curve below the new combined Polyline becomes the new LH element to define the next curve with the next RH element.

Draw curve  to draw the curve as defined by the input parameters. After this curve has been drawn the program prompts for a new pair of defining Lines or Polylines and in typical use this will mean selecting the 2D Polyline just drawn and the next Line working from left to right.

Return to end.
