Purpose

To make a “smoothed version” of a 2D Polyline on a section representing the existing ground or design to help in the construction of a vertical alignment. The start and end are not moved.

Operation

Pick the datum line, pick the 2D Polyline representing the existing ground.

Smoothing Strength

Consider this as the amount of strength required to “bend” the Polyline from its original vertices. Strong will be a more “straightened” alignment with Modest producing less change.

Smoothing influence range

The calculation “looks” a specified distance left and right to sample the level values along the Polyline. The greater the value of this the less close the result will be to the original Polyline (or to say in a different way 1.000 will result in only small changes).

Max level deviation

Use this to set a maximum shift value to “cap” the vertex adjustment or enter 0.000 to have no limit.

Modify selected Polyline(s)

Will adjust (vertically) the existing vertices.

Draw new Polyline(s)

Will draw a new Polyline with vertices at the specified regular interval (Apex interval).
